The Hongkong Prize is an internationally renowned writing contest that provides writers the chance to compete for cash prizes and showcase their work at an awards ceremony. Launched in 2016, this merit-based award seeks to foster scientific innovation and international cooperation within Hong Kong and beyond. Recognising scientists whose breakthroughs have had significant societal effects while encouraging young people to pursue their passions and broaden their global perspectives – it provides a selection process free from sponsorship or committee influences and is open to researchers worldwide.

Winners of the Hongkong prize can expect to participate in seminars and research internships at universities and laboratories throughout Hong Kong, offering them a chance to collaborate with some of the world’s foremost scientists (some even going on to win Nobel prizes!). Those unable to take advantage of these programmes may qualify for travel grants instead.

The Hongkong Prize is open to all enrolled secondary school students in Hong Kong. To enter, interested students must be nominated by their teachers and can submit up to three works before the submission deadline; any winning artworks will be displayed at Hong Kong Science Museum in 2022.

BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE Board is the highest governing body of this award, responsible for suggesting key scientific research fields for inclusion; setting requirements for nominating experts; verifying and approving review results, as well as ensuring compliance with BOCHK Innovators Charter.

The Hongkong Prize is an independent merit-based award that recognizes those who promote world civilisation and foster peaceful societies. It is open to anyone who has made significant contributions in artificial intelligence/robotics, life and healthcare innovation, materials innovation, new energy sources and advanced manufacturing/FinTech. Hong Kong Science & Technology Award (HKST Award) is the only award in the world that promotes Hong Kong as a hub of innovation through a transparent selection process free from sponsorship or committee influence. HK Prize is named for the Chinese word for pearl and its design is inspired by this symbolism; representing scientific innovation, international cooperation and high standards of moral integrity as values important in Hong Kong’s society.
