The Hong Kong Prize Symbol, as depicted by its award logo and the trophies given out to winners, features two precious elements – a pearl and jade amulet pierced through with holes – juxtaposed harmoniously together to represent our city and remind everyone about its heritage, role in Asia, as well as honour our values: Integrity, excellence, innovation and co-operation.

Mr Chan Tak-yan has done much to foster Hong Kong’s economic and social development. With an outstanding record in public affairs and widely respected for his pragmatic yet humble demeanor, Chan is also widely revered for his generous giving towards many worthy causes. As the inaugural winner of the new HK AI Prize he makes history!

HKAI’s Prize seeks to encourage an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit in AI and creative economies, and raise awareness of its significance to Hong Kong. This prize represents one of the key initiatives undertaken by HKAI to support and promote entrepreneurship; indeed it stands as one of the world’s premier prizes in this regard.

As part of an unprecedented collaboration, this year’s Hong Kong Arts & Innovation Prize (HKAI) will be awarded in partnership with the University of Hong Kong Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, providing greater reflection of innovation & entrepreneurship’s impactful role on our local economy and society.

At this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards, veteran actor Patrick Tse became the oldest best actor winner ever! With his performance as a hitman-turned-noodle-maker in black comedy Time, Patrick became the oldest winner ever of this honor at this prestigious ceremony.

Hong Kong artists have made their mark at this year’s Sovereign Asian Art Prize with nine of the shortlisted works hailing from our city. Pakistani sculptor Sameen Agha won the Grand Prize with her piece A Home Is a Terrible Place to Love while Hong Kong painter Michelle Fung won both Vogue Hong Kong Women’s Art Prize for Red Bean Stalk as well as Noormah Jamal from Pakistan who made an impactful statement through Did the Seed Grow? – marking an increase from previous years’ shortlist.
