The Hong Kong Prize for writing is one of the world’s premier writing competitions, drawing thousands of applicants every year and potentially providing career advancement and media exposure for writers who win it. Before applying, however, it’s vital that applicants carefully read all rules as failure to follow them could thwart your chances at victory.

This award honors the author of the best short story written in English during the preceding calendar year and published in the Hong Kong Prize Anthology, while their winning story receives a cash prize of HK$30,000 and they’ll also be invited to an awards ceremony where they’ll receive a trophy.

Winners will be chosen by an esteemed panel of judges composed of distinguished scholars and experts from Hong Kong community. Honorable mention certificates will also be distributed to writers who show promise and potential. Winners may take part in HKGNA Masterclasses as well as perform at concert events scheduled later.

Paul Mo-po Lee emphasized the HKSAR government’s dedication to turning Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub in his closing remarks, noting how Run Run Shaw’s vision will inspire young Hong Kongers to appreciate its promise and possibilities through science. To reach that goal, Lee stressed the need for an inclusive scientific spirit which embraces exploration and innovation as well as diversity of thought.

This competition seeks to inspire both undergraduate and postgraduate students to conduct research on Hong Kong history, its relationships with China and Asia, new theories and concepts used for studying Hong Kong topics as well as to promote Hong Kong’s global development efforts and create its image on an international scale.

US lawmakers announced on Tuesday that five Hongkongers have been nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, including Joshua Wong of Umbrella Movement who led to defend Hong Kong from Beijing last year, US lawmakers reported. These nominees could join notable dissidents such as Andrei Sakharov, Vaclav Havel and Aung San Suu Kyi to receive recognition.

The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is an independent merit-based award which recognises exceptional scientific researchers/ teams across five fields – Artificial Intelligence & Robotics; Life and Health; New Materials and New Energy; Advanced Manufacturing and FinTech. Renowned scholars from Hong Kong and abroad are invited to select winning entries with particular attention given to pioneering scientific achievements applied for society benefit.
