The Hongkong Prize is an award given to students who write research papers about Hong Kong history. Established in 1996 by friends and students of late professor John D. Young who believed that understanding Hong Kong’s past is integral to its future development, the winner receives both cash prize as well as access to research facilities in Hong Kong as well as being given an opportunity to present their ideas to key stakeholders within the development sector.
Society for Hong Kong Studies awards an annual scholarship that encourages research on Hong Kong and its place within China, Asia and beyond. Nine artists from Hong Kong were included on this year’s shortlist including Noormah Jamal’s piece Did the Seed Grow? which explores themes of honour and disgrace; proceeds from its sale will be donated to SAF’s Make It Better program that provides expressive arts workshops for children from disadvantaged communities.

Each Laureate (individual or group) will receive an award of HK$2 Million sponsored by BOCHK to acknowledge their pioneering efforts as well as influence on how R&D results translate into benefits that benefit society – this prize sponsored by BOCHK is set aside as recognition of pioneering efforts that has made this prize worthwhile – the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize was created in 2022 to honour outstanding individuals or teams involved with scientific research that have made significant contributions that advance Hong Kong science technology forwards by making significant advances themselves through innovative R&D outcomes being put towards this prize, the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is award HK$2 million awarded as recognition of BOCHK’s commitment towards making R&D results available to society benefit HK$ 2 million is awarded as per an award sponsored by BOCHK itself!
BOCHK’s Board of Trustees serves as THE PRIZE’s highest decision-making body in order to guarantee its credibility, acting as the highest decision-maker and overseeing both application and verification processes. They are accountable for reviewing and interpreting The Charter; suggesting scientific research fields appropriate for THE PRIZE; appointing members for The Review Committee/Compliance Oversight Team membership as well as supervising application/verification processes.
Not only will the winners receive a monetary prize, they’ll also have an opportunity to conduct research at Hong Kong universities and laboratories – helping expand their networks by connecting with researchers from all around the world and capitalising on Hong Kong’s advanced infrastructure to fuel business expansion.
Hong Kong scientists have won an array of international awards and accolades throughout history, such as Gregory Winter and Michael Levitt clinching the Nobel Prize for their groundbreaking work on RNA that led to new antibiotics and therapies; other awards received included Wolf Prize in Chemistry. Furthermore, these HK scientists also boast medals won at Olympic games; gold is given out only for top three finishers while silver or bronze medalists receive twice their original prize money amount awarded as prize money to those finishing first place at any event.
